I grew up in my dad’s orchard. A graft from a pear tree was one of my favorite birthday presents from him. Inspired by his love for growing food, I am now doing the same. Although I cannot say that I have the “greenest thumb” yet, I can say that persistence is more important than talent. I tried to grow Arugula and managed to grow Dandelion instead, an edible and nutritious green (commonly uprooted as a weed). Starting your own garden is just the first step—soon after you will be inclined to catch rainwater and make your own sauerkraut.
